This study designed a framework, architecture, physical structure, interface, and mode of application for the reconnaissance training of infantry units, in which the terrain was constrained, the combat situation was distorted, and challenging training conditions were created, by simulating hardware and software. This was based on an analysis of the requirements of the military and a consideration of the critical technologies involved. The proposed design scheme was used to construct a reconnaissance simulation training system for infantry units for teaching and training. The results showed that the system realized highly immersive training through realistic audio-visual integration. It satisfied the particular requirements of reconnaissance training for infantry units in diversified environments and combat target setting, and significantly improved the effectiveness of terrain reconnaissance, enemy reconnaissance, and comprehensive confrontation training.
